Student Support Team (SST)

The SST is a legally mandated group, composed of teachers, special educators, nurses, school and clinical counselors. The SST makes recommendations for identified students, and is geared towards supporting general education students who have not otherwise been identified as needing additional specialized support(s) and services. It is also a mechanism to assure that we have offered intervention and support(s), including accommodations and best practices identified in our District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP) before a referral is made for special education. This includes considering the student’s current performance, discussing the primary areas of concern, whether academic or social-emotional, and obtaining input from the family to help guide recommendations from the SST.
