Course Selection Process 2020

Timeline 

  • Mar 2 - Mar 27 English, History, Math, Science & World Language Teachers discuss recommendations with students and enter recommendations in Aspen
  • As of Mar 2 Students may view course recommendations and requests in Aspen Student Portal
  • Mar 12 - April 1 Students make course requests in Aspen Student Portal
  • As of Mar 2 Parents/Guardians may view course recommendations and requests in Aspen Family Portal
  • Drop-in course scheduling clinic in Conference Room B on these days from 11:00-12:30: THURS. 3/26, FRI. 3/27, MON. 3/30, TUES. 3/31  
  • April 1 - Course Requests must be posted and finalized in Aspen Student Portal
  • April 8 - Parent/Guardian must approve Student Course Requests in Aspen Family Portal. Instructions for parental approval will be sent after April 1st.

The Scheduling Department is by the front door of the school, opposite the balcony of the auditorium. Come by any time if you have questions.

Students who will be in grades 9-11 next year must take 7 courses, and students who will be in grade 12 next year must take at least 6 courses.

Students who will be seniors next year:

 

Senior Free: Please select Senior Free for either or both semesters if you intend to take only 6 courses that semester

Be sure that you have requested 6 or 7 courses.    

 

  • List of course offerings for 2020-2021. You may wish to print this list.
  • Course descriptions and graduation requirements may be found in the Program of Studies
  • Review your progress toward fulfilling graduation requirements by viewing Graduation Summary under the Transcript side tab in your Aspen portal.
  • Questions about a particular course or the course selection process in a particular department should be directed to the student's current teacher or to that Department Coordinator (contact info in the Program of Studies).
  • Questions about planning a student's academic program should be directed to the student's guidance counselor.
  • Questions about the scheduling process should be directed to Virginia Blake, Coordinator of Curriculum and Scheduling, or come by the scheduling office.    
  • Schedules for next year's 10th-12th Grade students will be finalized and made available in the Aspen student portal and Aspen family portal in August. Students and parents/guardians will receive an email notifying you when they are available.
  • Schedules for incoming 9th Grade students will be mailed home in August. 9th Graders will get their Aspen accounts in September. Next year's 9th Grade parents/guardians will be able to activate their Aspen Family Portal after school begins.
