METCO Programs
METCO and LS Staff will accompany all eligible Boston students to a facility in the METRO-WEST area to establish rapport, camaraderie, and program identity. This venue will be Launch, APEX, Playworks, The Sudbury Fieldhouse or one of the locally identified settings. In addition to LS staff, this can also include contracted partners. This will ideally occur to begin the school year and assist in acclimating the rising 9th graders and Boston students new to the METCO INC program.
This annual event will occur each year during the LS Senior Week and include all LS METCO 12th grade students, LS staff, METCO staff, and invited guests (including one adult/parent/guardian). ASB Creations & Events for LSRHS METCO Graduation Celebration.
The purpose of the YWG/YQG is to celebrate, guide, support, engage and encourage young females of color. This group will be facilitated by a current LS METCO mother or contracted entity with support from Boston area youth workers. The youth or community workers should have access to additional youth programming and resources for young BIPOC females living in the Boston area. The YMG/YKG will allow for LS METCO mothers and mother figures/role models to participate in and establish a safe space for young women of color to share stories, experiences, and goal setting while receiving guidance from dedicated and respected community members from diverse backgrounds. This group will also provide support to young females new to the METCO program and those preparing for the transition to college or the postsecondary workforce. The stipend will be to support group activities, projects, meetings and celebrations.
Foundational Math support, pre-teaching, and Algebra instruction for all incoming 9th graders (10th and 11th graders identified as well). This summer math enrichment program is a partnership cultivated by the METCO Director, the Math Department Chair, and Department that provides 3 weeks of summer enrichment and support at Boston University. Along with TCP Summer programming, the METCO Team and L-S have partnered with Dr Adrian Mims and TCP for consulting services and Math scaffolds.
Charter buses will be ordered for program/school sponsored field trips and events where the travel time exceeds 2.5 hours. The LS METCO program will attend the Building Bridges HBCU Symposium and Admissions event. This will include transportation to Brookline, MA for the METCO Directors Association (MDA) driven College Fair.
The LS METCO Program will participate in cross cultural forums, activities and panels where diversity is celebrated, encouraged and discussed within and beyond the Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School Campus.
The LS METCO Director will record and submit receipts and mileage documents for all work-related travel and spending. Director expenses may include but are not limited to subscriptions, memberships and marketing materials necessary to further promote the LS METCO Program. METCO Director Association Membership dues as well as MDA Conference participation will be covered under this line item.

The purpose of the Homework Club is to model good study behavior and provide enrichment in a variety of subjects. The Homework Club provides an appropriate environment for students to get work done: quiet, minimal distractions, resources on hand (computers, text books, supplies). The Homework Club is staffed by the METCO Academic Advisors as well as faculty to tutor students in the five core subjects (English, Foreign Language, Math, Science and History).
Homework club occurs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in room A200.
The Boston HBCU Alumni Network provides Boston area youth with leadership-development skills, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to educational resources. It focuses on bringing connections from high school to college and from college to career, focusing on awareness of and exposure to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and HBCU Alumni in the New England Area. This partnership was provided via the MDA.
Support for all incoming students and rising 9th / 10th graders.
The LS M3 programming occurs 2 - 4 mornings a week throughout the School Year and provides math support and enrichment from identified educators from the Math Department. This programming seeks to provide ongoing support with Math instruction and problems, while sparking interest in placement and enrollment in more challenging (upper-level) Math courses equipped with the support and fundamentals needed to succeed. In addition, M3 will provide students who have difficulties in math the opportunity to review fundamentals, ensuring that the student feels better prepared for their current course and ultimate course sequence. This program will be supplemented by The Calculus Project (TCP).
Annual event in which a METCO Advisor (s) transport or travel to this year's designated venue with Boston student leaders.
The MSLC will encourage student voice and advocacy around race, identity, culture, diversity, and belonging. Meetings will be facilitated by guest speakers, LS staff, METCO Staff, parents and community partners. Topics of interest will be provided by students and will reflect modern and historical perspectives regarding youth, race, education, sexuality, law enforcement, societal trends, respect for human difference, academic excellence, and cultivating community.
SAT Preparation courses will be provided by Open Door Education LLC. SAT prep will be scheduled to take place twice per week for two hours per session. SAT prep courses will be scheduled for February through April. In addition to SAT and ACT support, this organization will provide PSAT support to incoming students and 9th and 10th graders.
Fitness Instruction, Enrichment & Workouts
The LS METCO Summer Institute is an opportunity for newly enrolled LS METCO students and their parents to visit and gain an understanding of what a regular school day at LS may entail. Students and families tour the building/campus, attend a team building exercise with student leaders/volunteers, meet administrators, complete class registration, meet with department representatives, attend and participate in a Departmental (Math this particular year) exercise, and learn more about the LS METCO program experience. The LS students leaders/volunteers will provide tours and speak with students and families about their experiences. In addition, parents are introduced and formally welcomed by the various parent groups (LSPO) that support the LS METCO Program. During this event, meals and refreshments are provided along with activities and prizes for participants.
Student related materials will be available for student use during and beyond program hours. Food items, school supplies and resources will be purchased and made available in the program area for all METCO students. Nutritional foods and snacks, utensils, cooking supplies,program laptops, standard/graphing calculators, and team building resources etc. will be made available throughout the school year. Furniture to accommodate students and staff in collegial and professional learning environments.

Students referred at the end of the LSRHS SY - Prospective slots via Brookline PS Summer School slots or Faculty Summer Teaching.
The LS METCO Program will continue to pay LS instructional leaders to provide tutoring services on two to three days weekly (formerly Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) for all LS METCO students. Tutoring needs will and can be determined by individual content teachers, METCO staff, students or parents. Tutors will be compensated by the hour and all tutoring hours will be monitored and approved by the METCO Director.
A Boston-based nonprofit organization providing multi-year, holistic mentoring and outreach for young Black and Latino men in grades 7–12. Operating out of Hyde Park, YMWAP focuses on academic support, social-emotional learning, and success planning to foster leadership and long-term success.
