Concert Choir is the largest choral ensemble at L-S and meets three times per week during block 7.  Concert Choir is open to all students. There is no audition; a “good voice” and music-reading skills are not required.

*2 Choir options to choose between:
1) Concert Choir during the regular school day as an Elective class
OR 2) Concert Choir during the "Conservatory Block" three mornings a week before school (Tues/Wed/Fri from 7:33 - 8:25 am).
The two sections perform together at Concerts.

How do I choose?
Do you enjoy singing and want to further your group singing skills?  Sign up for Concert Choir during the regular school day as your Elective!
Do you enjoy singing but also want to explore another Elective/Arts area?  Sign up for Concert Choir Conservatory before school, and a different Elective during the school day!
Worried about fitting in the Computer Science Requirement?  Contact Mr. Bunting to learn about several ways to do it while continuing with Music.

*Concert Choir and Concert Choir Conservatory now qualify as Global Scholars classes.

*If you sign up for either Concert Choir as an Elective during school, OR Concert Choir Conservatory during the before school block, you are eligible to go on the L-S Music Tour to NYC in April 2025!!!

You do not need to be Beyoncé or Taylor Swift to sign up for Choir!  If you love singing and want to improve your skills, grab a few friends and sign up together!  If you sign up for either Choir section, you will be eligible for the Music trip to 6 Flags in May/June.

This group of mixed voices sings a variety of music including classical, Broadway, jazz, and music from cultures around the world. We develop our vocal technique and build skills in reading music. Choir is a great place to meet new people and make lasting friendships.

Choral students have a number of opportunities throughout the year that enrich their high school experience. Choir members are eligible to audition for the select choral groups, Chamber Singers and Singing Valentines. Members can also audition for the District and All-State honors chorus, for the chance to sing with some of the best high school singers in the state under a distinguished conductor.

Each May, Concert Choir produces our annual Community Sing, a performance of a major choral masterwork with orchestra in collaboration with L-S instrumentalists, Civic Orchestra members, L-S staff, community members and alumni. In addition, Friends of Music provides funding for special guest artists and masterclasses throughout the year. Outstanding students and singers are honored at the final concert with the annual chorus awards.

Singing Valentines 2026

On February 14, 2011, the L-S Concert Choir began a new program: Singing Valentines. This program is modeled on one at Lexington High School, which has had “Valentine quartets” for 30+ years.

For the 2025-26 school year, we have FOUR quartets: two of sopranos & altos, one of tenors and basses, and one mixed quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, bass).  The quartets delivered about 140 songs all around L-S! The students audition in December, and write arrangements and rehearse themselves with assistance from the choral director, Mr. Bunting. On Valentine’s Day, the singers travel around the school to serenade classmates, teachers, administrators, and staff.

Songs cost $5, with proceeds going to charity. Over the past years we have raised  thousands of dollars for several charities including Invisible Children, the L-S Memorial School in Cambodia, and for scholarships for L-S music students.

Interested?  To participate in Singing Valentines, you must be a member of L-S Concert Choir.  Sign up for Choir next year!

The groups’ all-a-cappella repertoire varies depending on student interest and may include songs by the Five Satins, Billy Joel, Taylor Swift, Counting Crows, the Shirelles, and, of course, Rick Astley.
