World languages week has been a long-standing tradition of the school’s World Languages department. It is an opportunity for our world language students to share their growth with the school community, and for all to appreciate and reflect on the linguistic and cultural diversity of our students and staff.

Students will have access to the following experiences throughout the week:

Monday, March 6

Wear your language colors day!  World Language students will wear colors representing the languages they are learning.  As you enter the building in the morning, look for language students who will be greeting you in French, German, Latin, Mandarin & Spanish.  Monday is Mandarin Day in the cafeteria.


Tuesday, March 7.

Our Immigrant Heritage Display with faculty contributions will be in the A-B Connector.  Tuesday is German Day in the cafeteria.


Wednesday, March 8.

Language Lunch Tables.  During the lunch blocks, student language leaders will camp out at tables in the cafeteria to facilitate lunch conversation in their target languages.  Wednesday is Spanish Day in the cafeteria.


Thursday, March 9.  

The 14th Annual World Language Declamation Contest in the LS Auditorium during block 4.  Student participants will recite pieces they have memorized in the languages they are learning.


Friday, March 10.    World Language Karaoke in the LS Auditorium during blocks 6 & 7.  Come sing in French, Mandarin, German & Spanish.  Karaoke lyrics will be supplied.

Friday is French Day in the cafeteria.


Friday, March 10 (evening).

Performance of ANGAJE, a Haitian dance performance by Jean Appolon Expressions.  Reception at 6:30 PM in the LS Cafeteria, performance at 7:30 in the LS auditorium.  Admission is free.  Donations to Partners in Health will gladly be accepted.
