(128) THE WORLD TODAY Full year course – 4 credits The goal of this course is for students to understand how world events impact their lives. The World Today is an interdisciplinary course that combines the study of history, political science cultural geography, and economics in order to provide a framework for understanding current events. The issues we will explore in depth are those that directly affect the United States, such as free trade in the global economy, the black market and environmental resource consumption. Within the course there are also many opportunities explore topics of the student’s choosing. This course features a strong emphasis on the development of skills in reading, writing, organization note taking and independent research. (3-5)
