 Mr. Grandprey has proudly taught instrumental music at L-S since 2004. His curricular responsibilities include; Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Jazz Ensemble, Concert Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, and Chamber Groups. Previously he has taught String Orchestra, Music Theory, Jazz Improvisation, a beginning Guitar course, and a Songwriting.  Teaching life skills through music is an overarching goal for Mr. Grandprey.
Mr. G. has conducted the L-S Pit Orchestra for The Secret Garden, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Wonderful Town, Chicago, Les Miserables, Urinetown, Footloose, West Side Story, Bat Boy, Into The Woods, Pippin, and Kiss Me Kate. He has conducted for Children of Eden for the Concord Youth Theater. In previous positions he has conducted West Side Story (Twice!), Anything Goes, My Fair Lady, and Grease.  He has played in pit orchestras for numerous productions throughout the years in Minnesota and Massachusetts.
Mr. Grandprey has served as the Site Host for the MMEA Eastern District Junior Music Festival (hosted at L-S) since 2009, as manager for the Eastern District Junior Festival Jazz Band, and as manager for the All State Jazz Band.
Mr. G. teaches at Middlesex School Summer Arts Camp,  and he previously taught at David Prouty H.S. in Spencer, Massachusetts where he was awarded the iParenting teacher of the month, and at Mayo H.S. in Rochester, Minnesota where he was an active performer, clinician, and judge for music festivals.
Mr. Grandprey holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies with an Emphasis in Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory / Berklee College of Music Collaborative Jazz Masters Program. He is an alumnus of Up With People. and performed music as well as community service in this group throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.
Mr. G. enjoys playing in music groups when time allows including the Faculty Variety Show House Band and has recently joined the Boston area rock group Mount Rumford.   He enjoys kayaking on the Sudbury River when down time can be found.
