9th Grade Assembly

9th Grade Assembly - Feb 2
Posted on 01/20/2023

To Parents and Guardians of 9th graders:

We are excited to announce that on Thursday, February 2nd during blocks 3 and 4, L-S will be hosting Celebrating Identity and Inclusion, a session for all 9th graders to engage in meaningful activities to affirm identities and promote inclusion and understanding around social justice at L-S. Our keynote speaker Tessa Kaneene and members of the Student Social Justice Advisory Board (SSJAB) have been working for four months to prepare an exceptional program. Ms. Kaneene is a Senior Advisor at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and has years of experience in impactful justice work and youth leadership.

Following Ms. Kaneene’s discussion, SSJAB student leaders, alongside teachers they nominated, will lead breakout sessions for 9th graders to continue conversations. As members of the SSJAB, breakout leaders have been recommended by teachers as determined representatives of the L-S community dedicated to making L-S a more inclusive space. Members of the SSJAB have participated in numerous trainings to expand their knowledge on social justice and prepare for the assembly and have worked extensively with Ms. Kaneene to craft an educational and enjoyable activity for the students. We are looking forward to an enriching event. Please email Ms. Hodin ([email protected] )with any questions.

Thanks so much,

Olivia Gottlieb
