Survey Deadline Reminder for 3/19/21
Posted on 03/17/2021
Dear LS Families,

This is a reminder that while we are making plans to return all students to be in school fully in person at a date to be determined for this spring we are seeking confirmation of your child's learning model. Students will still be given the option of fully remote learning. To support our planning we need to know if you choose for your child to be in person or remote learning. please fill out this survey. only if you will be changing your child from their current learning model from in person to remote or from remote to in person. We will otherwise assume your child will remain in their current learning model type. You will be able to fill out a response for more than one child. The survey will close at midnight on Friday, March 19.

The guidance released by MA Commissioner of Education Jeff Riley on March 9, 2021 provides the following physical guidance for in person learning: students must be 3 feet apart edge of seat to edge of seat (which is about 4 feet nose to nose) and facing forward. Masks will remain mandatory. Lunch will be eaten at school. Social distancing limitations for school busses have been removed. The guidance is attached.

While the Commissioner has provided a start date for elementary (4/5) and middle school (4/28) to retun fully in person, he has not yet provided one for high school. Whether the Commssioner has been able to provide additonal guidance or not on a specific date I expect to announce a date and plans for LS by March 23, prior the next LS School Committee meeting.

Based on the work we started last summer and to date we will not be able to achieve 3 foot distancing between students for all current classes. While a majority of the studnets may be in person, we may need to keep some classes in cohorts while in school and make other adjustments to schedules. We are looking forward to receiving students safely fully in person this spring.
