March 12th Updates
Posted on 03/12/2021

Dear LS Students and Families,

I have a few updates and timely invites to share with you!

We sent three teams (A, B and C) to the annual National Ocean Science Bowl competition that was hosted virtually this year by MIT.  Congratulations to our 14 LS students who prepared over several months and earned 3rd, 6th and 2d place finishes, respectively.  Thank you to advisor BJ Pegram supported by Caroline Singler and Allison Richardson for their coaching.

The LS School Committee approved Spring Sports and a new Track Club proposed by Activities and Athletics Director Art Reilly at its last meeting.  This means we will successfully run ‘five’ seasons this school year, which includes a Fall 2 season that is currently in progress!  9th and JV Girls Volleyball games are happening this afternoon and our first Varsity Football game this evening at 6:00 pm at Concord-Carlisle.  9th grade and JV football games are scheduled for tomorrow morning.  Thank you SO VERY MUCH to our Building and Grounds staff for keeping our stadium field clear of snow.  Note: spectator attendance is permitted for bearers of a limited number of special lanyards only.  Thank you to all our coaches, families, staff and students for working with us this year and flexibility to make sure these events could happen.

This evening also features another grand compendium of LS musical performances starting at 7 pm.  Cohorts from the String Orchestra will stream live from the L-S Auditorium, with video performances from the combined Concert Choir and Treble Choir, Chamber Singers, Singing Valentines and the combined Symphonic and Concert Bands.  I will have the privilege of performing with the string orchestra playing "Gabriel's Oboe" from the movie "The Mission".

The concert will air in both Sudbury and Lincoln on Comcast channel 9 / Verizon channel 32, and will live stream here, https://sudbury.vod.castus.tv/vod/?live=ch2&nav=live, in real time. It will also be available on VOD a few days after the concert. Many thanks to the folks at Sudbury TV for all of their help in coordinating this multifaceted event to stream live out into the Musicverse.

And, finally, be sure not to miss the 13th Annual (highly touted) SERF College Fair that will be ongoing March 14 through March 20!  Learn about the schedule and how to register through

Enjoy your weekend,
