LS FY24 Budget Approval (Lincoln)

LS FY24 Budget Approval (Lincoln)
Posted on 03/29/2023

Dear LS Students, Families, and Staff,

I am very pleased to share that the proposed LS FY24 Budget including the FY24 Capital requests received unanimous approval at the Lincoln Town Meeting held on March 25, 2023! Here is a summary of budget highlights:

1. The budget supports the realization of the primary objectives of the district’s

LSRHS Strategic Plan 2020-25 and LS Portrait of a Graduate for all its students.

2. All recently increased staffing to enhance student services related to the pandemic is sustained.

3. All recently general and special education improvements to this year’s programs are sustained. This includes increases to Mandarin language and computer science plus the new Partners program to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

4. Student enrollment in the LS Global Scholars Program has increased four-fold since its inception and staff time to oversee the program has been increased to support this growth.

5. A new Advisory Program to include all students to be implemented this fall.

6. As student enrollment decreases the number of staff will be adjusted downward over time. This has been happening over the last few years and will continue to be done through attrition caused by retirement and/or resignations.

7. As we adjust staffing to correspond with lower enrollment the median class size for the current year across various departments is between 17 and 23, consistent with prior years.

Attached is the presentation of the budget approved by the L-S School Committee held on February 7. The next and final step of approval for the proposed budget is at the Sudbury Town Meeting, which will take place starting May 1.
