Dear LS Students, Families, and Staff,
I am writing to you about the events today in Uvalde, Texas, where a shooting occurred in an elementary school and children were killed including a teacher and many wounded. The information we have about what happened and what is happening will evolve over the next hours or days. The news is incredibly painful and difficult to try to comprehend. Our hearts go out to the entire community of Uvalde, especially to those who are watching over and/or have lost loved ones.
It is understandable that this news will unsettle and may make us feel apprehensive. I want to assure you that safety is always our highest priority. And that together we will support you and one another.
• We have a strong collaborative relationship with all of the chief safety officers of Lincoln and Sudbury. We have regular ongoing support in our school from both police departments. We will have additional presence tomorrow on campus.
• LS Buildings and Grounds Staff from all shifts will be on campus during school hours for additional reassurance.
• All of us have been trained in emergency preparedness protocols and have practiced protective drills with all of you.
• Please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on your house team or other staff or counselor with whom you are comfortable to seek support.
Sending thoughts of solace and strength to Uvalde,
Bella Wong
