Update for parent/guardian events and forms

Update for parent/guardian events and forms
Posted on 08/28/2021
Dear LS Parents/Guardians,

I am writing to let you know that we are planning to hold Grade 9 parent/guardian night on September 9, as scheduled, in person.

Back to School Night scheduled for September 22 will also be in person. However, I am asking that each family send only one parent/guardian per student.

It is a state mandate that all attendees must wear masks at all times when indoors for these upcoming school events.

We are fortunate to be in a community where parent/guardian engagement in student learning is very high. As a result we always have extremely high attendnace during BTSN which has been great and wonderful. We love that so many parents/guardians come out that night. But this year I need to ask for your cooperation to help reduce density for that evening. If a teacher has 20 to 24 students in a class, if there is more than one parent/guardian in attendance that number can easily increase to 30-45 squeezed into a classroom. Moreover, during a typival BTSN in the past, when it is time to change classes the hallways are very tight!

I am aware that some school districts are holding their BTSN 100% virtual. Yet, we are mindful that our grade 9 families had a virtual grade 8 evening. And that our grade 10 parents had virtual grade 8 and grade 9 evenings. With safety in mind we want to do our best to provide an in person opportunity for you. Therefore, I hope you understand why I am asking for your help to send only one representative per student for the BTSN.

I also want to remind you to return the updated student health form to the school nurse. This year we are asking for evidence of COVID vaccination status -- whether vaccinated or not. Here is a link to the form.

In appreciation of your understanding and support.
