Dear LS Students, Parents & Guardians:

As you may have read last week in the news the Class of 2022 is not required to take and pass the MCAS in order to graduate from high school. This is very big news! We are also relieved that we are no longer needing to administer MCAS to all of grade 10 and grade 11 in May which would have required students to miss class.

The impact on the schedule for all students remains:

Classes will begin at 10:31 on May 3, 6, 10 and 13.

MCAS testing will take place from 8:25 - 10:28 on those days.

Block 1 & 3 classes will be cancelled on May 3 and 10.

Block 2 & 4 classes will be cancelled on May 6 and 13.

Some AP classes will be meeting during those mornings. Details will be shared with students in those classes by their teachers.

The MCAS weeks’ schedules, including bus information for those days, can be found on our website at

9th and 12th grade students will not be taking MCAS tests. 11th graders are not required to take the MCAS in order to graduate.

Please read on if you are (or your child is) in 10th grade.

To earn a high school diploma all students must meet the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s MCAS requirement ( The MA Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has waived this requirement for the Class of 2022.

Here is the testing schedule for 10th graders who will be taking MCAS. The MCAS can only be taken in-person. Students who do not take the MCAS this spring can take it next year.

If you are a remote student, you must inform of your decision to take it this spring by the end of today!

Room assignments will be posted in House Offices and outside the Main Office one week prior to testing. Students should bring pencils, pens or highlighters for use on provided scratch paper each day for ELA and Math.

The online testing platform (TestNav) provides an onscreen calculator for the appropriate tests and sessions. Students may, however, use their own handheld calculator.
