School Closing 3/16

School Closing 3/16
Posted on 03/12/2020
Dear L-S Students and Families,

With the support of the Sudbury Health Department and L-S School Committee, L-S will close school to all students and community members for two weeks starting Monday, March 16, with very limited exceptions. There are no presumptive or confirmed cases of COVID-19 with any contacts to L-S at this time. The closure is intended to facilitate social distancing and mitigate the potential spread of coronavirus, COVID-19 among members of our school community. I will assess the reopening of school at the end of this period.

This means no L-S co-curricular activities or athletics will be taking place at this time. The MIAA has canceled remaining post season contests. The MIAA has also delayed the start of the spring season to March 30. Per the MIAA, out of season coaching is prohibited during this period. Congratulations to our Boys Ice Hockey Team who have been named 2020 Division II State Champions and who would have played this Sunday at TD Garden!!

Students with accommodations who were previously scheduled to take the SAT at L-S this weekend will still be able to take the exam on Saturday.

We WILL have school tomorrow on Friday! At dismissal, students should make sure to take textbooks, notebooks and personal belongings home with them that they would like to have home over the next two weeks. If you let us know in the survey that you need to borrow a Chromebook, we will be in touch with you next week. We will have more information next week about the administration of ELA MCAS to 10th graders scheduled for on 3/24 and 3/25.

Any events that were scheduled to take place at L-S are canceled through March 28.

Students, please check your LS email at least once a day beginning on Monday so that we can communicate plans to you!

Important: the purpose of closing school is to exercise social distancing to minimize exposure and infection by COVID-19. For this to be effective you must conduct yourselves consistent with this purpose when school is closed. Please do your very best to be mindful of this when we will be out of school to avoid large gatherings and maintain space between yourself and others where possible.
