Students Together Empowering Women in conjunction with Mr. Raffel’s Economic classes are sponsoring a conference on women and entrepreneurship on Thursday, March 14 at LS. The featured speaker will be LS grad Katie Demo, who is the co-founder of Brass clothing, an online clothing retailer. This is an in-school field trip that will take place from 11:30 to 1:40 (blocks 5 and 6). For more information and a field trip form, see Ms. Shields in the Wellness Department or Mr. Raffel in the History Department. Forms are due on Monday, March 4. This field trip is open to all interested students.

Seed Crew is a paid summer position for 14-17 year olds that lasts 7 weeks. Students work on farms in Lincoln and Dorchester and learn about the food system & social justice issues. On Thursday, Feb. 14, the L-S Concert Choir will present our 9th annual Singing Valentines! This week during lunches, you can buy a song for a friend or for your class for $5 outside the cafe. Quartets from the Concert Choir will deliver songs to classrooms all day Thursday in 4-part harmony. If you are interested in auditioning for Singing Valentines next year, you must sign up for Concert Choir!
Important Announcement from the MLK Coordinators about Community Service hours: Because of the recent switchover to Aspen, we are not yet able to log the most recent community service hours. We are, however, reviewing applications and emailing students with any questions, concerns or rejections. If you don’t hear from us, you can assume your hours will be logged when we regain access to the system. If there is some urgent reason that you need to know your hours in the next few weeks, come see Ms. Weisse or Ms Frommer in the English office. Thank you!

The MLK Action Project is sponsoring a community service trip to the Greater Boston Food Bank on Wednesday, March 20. The bus will leave from the LS flagpole at 12:40 and return to the LS parking lot no later than 5:00 pm. Volunteers will receive 3 hours of community service credit.
All are welcome! Sign up via email no later than Monday, March 18 to Tracy_Burke@lsrhs.net. Once you sign up, you will receive an e-permission slip which must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned before you can volunteer at the food bank.
