Introduction to Muscle Fitness
  • Incorporate Muscular Fitness exercise into a lifetime of physical activity
  • Feel confident using strength training equipment
  • Utilize knowledge of Fitness Components and Principles of Training
  • Recognize exercise myths/facts
Community Action-CPR
  • Learn skills of CPR, AED, and First Aid and may receive American Red Cross Certification
  • Recognize impact an individual can have on a community
  • Develop self-confidence to act in an emergency
Health Issues
  • Explore attitudes, thoughts and beliefs around current health topics
  • Critically examine factors that influence decision making
  • Topics include mental health, relationships, sexuality, substance use/abuse
Student Leadership/Teacher Assistant
  • Staff approval required
Introduction to Wellness
  • Examine Wellness models and theories in relation to self and others
  • A.C.T. Curriculum (Acknowledge, Care, Talk)
  • Assess personal well being in relationship to teen decisions
  • Explore attitudes, thoughts and beliefs effected by cultural norms and traps
Outdoor Pursuits

  • Adventure education model used to promote problem solving
  • Group roles are introduced to understand group dynamics
  • Low element initiatives facilitate the process of team building
Cardiovascular Fitness
  • Become aware of choices and risk factors that influence heart disease
  • Learning anatomy and physiology of exercise
  • Workout in the fitness center to meet personal goals by using heart rate monitors to chart progress
