INTRODUCTION TO WELLNESS                                                                                     1 1 credit
 
The intent of this course is to give students a basic understanding of wellness concepts, to assess personal life-styles, understand human needs, and develop goals for growth.  Students will learn the importance of self acceptance and self responsibility in the wellness process as well as understanding the risk-taking and compulsive/addictive life patterns.  The course will show the impact each component (intellectual, physical, environmental, social/emotional/leisure, spiritual) has on the others, emphasizing the need for balance.  Using self-evaluation and cooperative group work, students will practice skills in goal setting and behavior change.
