(402) EARTH SCIENCE (1)

Full year course - 4 credits This course is the core, college-preparatory Earth Science course. Approximately three-quarters
of current ninth graders are placed in Earth Science (1). Expectations for this course include strong math and graphing skills, reading at or above grade level, ability to express oneself in writing, working in groups, and prompt and complete submission of assignments. The course emphasizes critical thinking skills, connections to other disciplines, and the application of course content to the student’s own experiences and to unfamiliar situations. It is recommended, but not required, that students have successfully completed Algebra I before taking Earth Science (1).
