AP Biology is designed to be the equivalent of a college level introductory biology course. The text is the same as that used by college biology majors and labs are equivalent to those done by college students. The main goals of the class are to help students develop a conceptual framework for modern biology and to help them gain an appreciation of science as a process. The topics covered are, Molecules and Cells (25%), Heredity and Evolution (25%), and Organisms and Populations (50%). Students are encouraged, but not required, to take the AP Exam in April.
