BIOTECHNOLOGY
Semester course - 2 credits
Open to: 11-12
Prerequisite: Completion of CHEMISTRY with a C, or approval of
the instructor,
or CHEMISTRY taken concurrently Instructor approval necessary
if grade
requirement not met.
BIOTECHNOLOGY is a lab oriented course in which students
will be made
familiar with basic laboratory techniques as well as some of the
fundamentals
found in more advanced procedures currently employed by biotech
firms. These
procedures include agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA splicing,
gene cloning, and
immunological assays. Students successfully completing this course
will have
acquired skills that will make them employable in some of the
biotech labs in this
area.
