ADVANCED PLACEMENT PHYSICS
Full year course - 4
credits
Prerequisites: Recommendation of current science teacher and
full year Calculus
taken concurrently with this course.
This course is designed to be the equivalent of a calculus-based

local
univerisities. The course is a rigorous introduction to mechanics,
including
Newton's laws, conservation principles and rotational dynamics.
Additional topics
will be covered in the spring as time allows. Considerable instructional
time is
devoted to building problem solving skills, and frequent problem
sets are
assigned. Students will be required to do some laboratory work,
and will be
graded on tests, laboratory write-ups, and homework.
