Department Policies

Double Enrollment

Double enrollment in history courses depends on available space. Students may take "Law and American Society" and another history course without special application.

Field Trips

Students must have current parental permission forms on file in their house offices in order to participate in department-sponsored field trips. Sophomores usually go on a three day trip to Washington D. C. in March.

Grades & Credits

In order to receive credit, a student must earn at least a D-.

If a student cuts a class three times in one semester, he/she will lost one credit.

All incompletes must be made up within the time period allowed by the school.

Graduation Requirements

All students must take at least three years of history, one year of which must be an American history class.

History Achievement Award

Seniors will be eligible for a History Achievement Award if they take four years of
history and maintain an average of at least 3.5 in those history classes, with no
grade below a C+.

Scheduling

Teachers make course recommendations for students and must sign and approve student schedules. Parents can override a teacher recommendation. Placement in any given course, however, depends on available space.
