Dafur is in the Western part of Sudan next to Chad and C.A.R. Conflict broke out in Darfur in 2003 and more than 200,000 deaths have occured as well as two million being displaced. Many have become refugees in Chad and Ethiopia. There is currently humantarian aid trying to help and peacekeeping troops trying to help.

Background: Sudan gained independence from the UK in 1956. Since then Sudan has had two civil wars, resulting in four million Sudanese being displaced and two million killed, as well as famines occuring.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Sudan is in northern Africa, bordering the Red Sea, and is between Egypt and Eritrea. It is slightly more than 1/4 of the United States. It is also the largest country in African.
