Sisters in Jazz Combo

This group was founded in 2005 to promote the interest in jazz for the female music students at L-S. It's name comes from the IAJE Collegiate All-Star Group of the same name.

Sisters meets outside of the school day for credit once a week to play jazz in a combo setting. The focus is on learning jazz standards, developing an individual improvisational voice, and a communicative group sound.

The group performs at school concerts (with a splash of pink) and at events in the community. Contact thomas_grandprey@lsrhs.net to schedule a performance.

Maria Schneider:

2008 Grammy Award Winning Composer

"She now has become entrenched among the ranks of America's leading composers. ... For Schneider, the question is no longer whether she can sustain the heights she has attained on earlier recordings; it is now how far her musical journey will take her." ~DOWNBEAT
