Recently, the Student Senate conducted a survey about LS culture.
Student were asked to respond to the following questions:
1. Do you feel well informed about the school? If not, why? How do you receive your information (i.e.: ipass, morning announcements)?
2. Do you think discipline is effective in the school?
3. How do you spend most of your free blocks/free time?
4. Do you feel like the staff is accessible?
5. Has the restructuring of the houses affected your school day? If so, how?
6. The LS administration is in the midst of change. Comment on how you feel about the change. If there is one change you could make in the school what would it be?
7. Any additional comments?
In response to the survey, students highlighted these main points:
1. Students receive their information from ipass, the morning annoucements, signs in the hallways and the Forum.
2. Students complained that teachers do not read the morning announcements enough so they don’t feel sufficiently informed—some people suggested a weekly e-mail as a solution.
3. Students think that we should have more variety of food and bring back some of the junk food.
4. Students feel like LS is losing its trust between faculty and students as a result of the campus aids and harsher punishments—they want to know the reasons for the improvement of security.
5. Students said they spend most of their time either in the cafeteria or library or going out.
6. Students mentioned that they think sophomores should be able to have max-ed cards.
7. Students think the use of ipass should be mandatory.
8. Students think they should be able to eat in the halls and on the rugs.
9. Many students mentioned how they dislike having a short block elective during their full lunch.
