Last Assignment
Goodbye

Objective: You will have reflected on your semester in Web Publishing.

Saying Goodbye

Create a web page called last.html. In it, answer the questions below, labeling your answer with the number of each question. Make sure to create a link from your assignments page.

Keep in mind: this is a graded exercise, it will be graded on the seriousness and thoroughness with which you answer the questions. I am not looking for any particular answers but want to know as precisely as possible what you think so we can continue to improve the instruction in the class.

During the semester, we worked with a variety of assignments and projects, including:

  • Writing HTML using TextWrangler
  • Learning the basics of Dreamweaver
  • Creating images and rollovers
  • Adding sound and video
  • Enhancing our pages with Cascading Style Sheets (styles)
  • Making animations
  • The Final Project

Questions

  1. What was your favorite project? Why (please be as thorough and specific as possible)?
  2. What project you would change for the better (i.e., if you were Jim, would you make changes to any of the assignments given)? Which one? How (please be as thorough and specific as possible)?
  3. Using the list I've provided above (and any additional assignments/projects you did), please list the order in which you enjoyed and/or learned from the projects (listing your favorite/most educational first, all the way down to your least favorite last -- you should have at least 7 projects on your list) -- make this an ordered list.
  4. Take a look at your first assignment. In it you wrote “what you hope to accomplish in this Web Publishing Class.” Please copy and paste your answer to that question from your first assignment and surround it with quotation markes. Then tell me if you if you accomplished what you’d hoped to and why and how your expectations may have changed over the course of the semester (please avoid one word or very short answers, such as “yes” or “kind of.”
  5. If you could travel back in time and give yourself (the self that was about to start this course) any advice for the semester, what advice would you deliver in order to make the semester even more productive for yourself?
  6. If you could travel back in time and give Jim (the Jim that was about to start teaching this course) any advice for the semester, what advice would you deliver in order to make the semester even more productive for you?

Once you've finished with these questions, don't forget to add a link from your assignment page to last.html and copy the updated assignments page and last.html to the web server.

Please take the time to answer these questions seriously for the benefit of both you and me.

Thanks for a terrific semester.
