Project 1: Newspaper Article
You are going to create a newspaper article of about five paragraphs. You should do it about a story at Lincoln-Sudbury (for example, the current budget situation and its effects, new campus aides, Metco re-organization, etc.).
To complete this project, you should:
- brainstorm possible story ideas
- decide on the best idea (if you would like my input, please ask)
- do some research, both on the internet and in person (interviews)
- get some quotes from first-hand sources
- create an image that supports your story (picture of relevant person or place, drawing, graphic, etc.)
- write your article
- edit your article
What should your article include:
- A headline at the top that spans the entire width of the page
- A byline with your name
- At least four paragraphs in the article in two or three columns (article should only be one page long)
- Page margins set to .5 inch on the left and right and .6 inch on the top and bottom
- Quotes from at least two people
- One image, graph, or graphic with caption
Take some time thinking about an article that you would like to write. The best work will come from a story that interests you. Once you've decided on a topic you'd like to write about, please check in with me before starting.
