Final Project

The final project for this course will be your major grade for the 4th quarter. The project is due June 10, 2005. It must be a different project than your Quarter project. It will require you to work independently for much of the quarter. In addition, to allow for varied projects, what you actually do will be mainly your own choice. It is difficult to assess projects of this nature, since they cannot all be judged by the same rubric.

I hope you will choose your own project, and you can spend some time deciding what to work on. You should have a written plan for your project by May 17, 2005. You should email me your plan.

If you cannot think of an acceptable project, choose a class you are currently in, and make a web site about the class, or about one unit in the class. You could make a site about a book you are reading in an English class, or about Rocks and Minerals from your science class, etc. You could work with a teacher to design a website for one of their classes.

It is always easier to design a website for a real purpose. There are several areas of the LS website that need attention. The activities section and athletic sections need attention. If you would like to work on the LS website, start at the front page and click around until you find an area that needs help.

This means about 2-3 weeks of work along with our regular assignments. It should be high quality and include the different effects and features you learned in the class. You should use books and on-line help to put in advanced features we did not learn in class. Look at some professional web sites. How long do you think it took to make them?

The worst thing you can do to your grade is complain that you are done or that you have nothing to do.
