Welcome to Isaac Fisher's Web Page

I earned my bachelor’s degree at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. I worked as a secondary English teacher for Anne Arundel County Public Schools for five years. I received training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and for ten years was a tutor, language arts and mathematics teacher, homeroom teacher, and coach at the Jemicy School in Owings Mills, Maryland. It was during this time that I began a private tutoring practice, worked at Camp Dunnabeck at Kildonan, and Camp Jemicy. I was the academic director at Camp Jemicy, which involved training new tutors and overseeing the academic portion of the camp. After Jemicy, I worked for a year as the interim Dean of Students at an independent school in Maine. I returned to Baltimore and reentered private practice with a speech and language partnership. While I was at Jemicy, I began a master’s program in Clinical Psychology at Loyola College of Maryland, graduating upon my return from Maine. I was hired by the Friends School of Baltimore as Curriculum Coordinator for the Preprimary and Lower School. I moved to Massachusetts to be Director of Studies at the Charles River School. I joined the Weaver Clinic in the spring of 1999 as a therapeutic tutor and educational evaluator. I worked with my clients to develop organizational and study skills, language skills and self-advocacy. I also represented clients at school meetings. In 2001, I substituted for the first semester in the LINK Program at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School while working at the Weaver Clinic. For the second semester I was a teaching assistant and continued at the Weaver Clinic. In 2002, I began to work full time in the Learning Center.

I became a teacher and a tutor because I strongly believe that everyone has an individual pattern of strengths and needs that can be used effectively for learning. Developing strategies, self-confidence, and self-advocacy can help students reach their goals.

This year I am teaching the following classes- you can click on these links to learn more about these classes or to return to the home page.
