Singing Valentines

On February 14, 2011, the L-S Concert Choir began a new program: Singing Valentines. This program is modelled on one at Lexington High School, which has had valentine quartets for 25+ years.

In 2012, we had two quartets of girls, and a boys quintet. The students auditioned in December, and wrote arrangements and rehearsed themselves with assistance from the choral director, Mr. Bunting. On Valentine's Day, the singers travelled around the school to serenade classmates, teachers, adminstrators, and staff. Songs cost $5, with proceeds going to a charity. This year we raised $500 for Invisible Children.

The groups' all-a-cappella repertoire has included songs by the Five Satins, Billy Joel, Elton John, ABBA, Taylor Swift, Counting Crows, the Shirelles, Rick Astley, and Tom Jones.
