Because of hard drive space limitations, it is extremely important that you save your projects properly. If your project is not saved in the correct place, your project will be deleted. If it is not named correctly it will not be archived and saved.
Login to your computer
Follow the directions given in class - Everyone needs to know the class username and password.
Launch iMovie
When you move your mouse down past the bottom of the screen a “dock” will pop up. Double click on the iMovie icon.
At this point iMovie will do one of two things. It will either: open the last project that was worked on,
OR
ask you to create a new project.
To Create a New project:
Click the "Create Project..." button.
A new dialog box will appear asking you what you want to name your project and where you want to save it.
Give your project a meaningful name:
IMPORTANT NOTE 1: Do not use any punctuation or spaces in your project name.
IMPORTANT NOTE 2: Limit your filename to 15 characters or less.
IMPORTANT NOTE 3: Save your project in the appropriate block HARD DRIVE - not a user folder.
CHECK YOUR WORK:
Quit iMovie (“iMovie” menu > "Quit
iMovie")
Locate your block hard drive on the computer desktop.
Double click on the icon.
If you don’t see your project folder inside the block hard drive, you did not save it in the correct place. Try again or see me for assistance.
SAVE OFTEN
You should save your changes every few minutes by going to the File menu and chossing "Save..." or holding down the apple key and the typing the letter “S.”
If the computer ever freezes, or if we have a power failure etc. you will only loose the work that you did since the last time you saved.
