Outlined below is the basic process for editing your silent movie project. This is not a tutorial, but an outline of things you should know how to do. Each member of the group is responsible for knowing how to do all of the activities listed below.
  1. Import Footage - transfer your video footage from your camera to iMovie.

  2. Split Clips - separate your different shots and takes into clips

  3. Rename Clips - Name your clips so that they are meaningful to the group.

  4. Crop Clips - Remove extraneous footage from the beginning and end of each clip. Be sure not to remove too much.

  5. Assemble clips in the timeline - Create a "Rugh Cut" of your movie.

  6. Duplicate Clips - make a copy of a clip by "Option" dragging.

  7. Tighten up your edits - tighten up clips by cropping out extraneous footage.

  8. Change clip speed - Change clip speed if necessary or add other special effects.

    • If you need to experiment with an edit or effect make duplicates of those clips to work with.

  9. Remove Audio - For your silent movie project turn down the source audio for all of your clips.

  10. Add titles - Add beginning titles and end credits.

  11. Add music - Import music from a CD. Do not have music end abruptly at an awkward place. Have music fade out.
