Project 2: Cartoon Animation

Description
For this project you will experiment with a number of basic cartooning concepts. This will be broken into a number of “exercises.” Similar to the previous project, each animation should be accessible to the viewer by a navigation page. The Cartooning exercises will include the following:
- Character design / construction
- Simple character animation
- Creating a walk cycle and a run cycle
- Audio - lip syncing dialog
- Backgrounds - separating foreground & background
Learning Objectives
  • Designing your character for animation
  • Organizing your symbols
  • basic animation concepts
    - movement in arcs
    - timing
    - volume
    - anticipation - secondary motion (“Information Flow”)
    - (more) frame composition
Requirements
  • Proper use of symbols
  • Proper naming and organization of symbols
  • Using Movie Clips to create cycles
  • You should have 6 scenes:
    1. Navigation Scene - The viewer should be able to access all of your animations through your navigation page.
    2. Simple Character Animation
    3. Walk Cycle
    4. Run Cycle
    5. Dialog Scene
Grading
My regular grading rubric will be used to grade this project.
25% - Use of Time, Initiative
25% - Craftsmanship, Skill, Technique
25% - Fulfills Objectives
25% - Content, Aesthetics, creativity and design
Progress Report Quiz
At some point during the production time a checklist will be given out that indicates where you should be on this project. I will be using this checklist to determine a grade that counts like a quiz.
