Teachers, not Soldiers will Save The Earth

an essay review by Nicole

The relationship between teachers

and children

is one of the most important relationships in a child's life. Teachers don't just teach a child, they enable children to directly ask the most important questions of their life. "Who am I? What will I become in life? Teachers don't just answer these questions, they lead the children to discover their way in life. Educators enable kids to find their true potential. Teachers are the key to our children's future and survival and that is why teachers are the most important people in our children's lives. Carroll believes that Public education has been allowed to deteriorate because the money that should go to schools is going to war preparation. Carroll believes that nowadays teachers are undervalued and underpaid. Teachers are not valued like they have been in the past. Teachers are rewarded more for research then they are for their work in the classroom. Carroll believes that the public should put its energy and money towards education instead of war.

Teaching is the opposite of war. War is destructive and teaching is creative. Carr oll states that the "mid century emergency" is over now and that education can take its proper place at the center of out nation's effort. Our future world requires well educated people to deal with the economy, world peace, poverty, and the environment.
