A Welcome to Alumni from Dr. John Ritchie, Superintendent/Principal: Dear L-S Alumni: As the current tenant of the office of the Superintendent/Principal, let me welcome you to the website, and, indirectly at least, to the world of L-S in 2005. I have been here for eight years now, and have become an absolute fan of Lincoln-Sudbury, its history, its culture, its alumni relationships, its unique place in the educational landscape. In fact, in many ways, the most important part of my job has been to try to preserve what is best about L-S, in the face of social change, educational mandates, and generalized pressures to conform, or be competitive, or standardize. I think we have to a large extent succeeded, primarily because the faculty remains excellent, and remains deeply committed to valuing the school's history, and maintaining a climate that is kind, a bit eccentric, challenging, and introspective. Despite the fact that we are in a new building, I think there are many qualities and characteristics of the L-S experience that you would recognize, and that don't exist at other schools. Finally, the role of L-S alumni is very important to us, for we are a school that wants to be remembered and supported by those who have passed through our doors. Don't worry, this is not a plea for money. It is only to say that, more than any other school in which I have ever worked, the spirit of L-S past remains a vital part of L-S present, and we all hope to keep it that way. | |
